To achieve the overall Nobo Jatra goal to ‘Improve gender equitable food security, nutrition and resilience of vulnerable people within Khulna and Satkhira districts in Bangladesh’ the program will apply an integrated approach to reduce food insecurity and malnutrition.
Target group: pregnant and lactating women, children U2 years of age, disabled, youth, female-headed households and aadolescent girls/young women aged 15 to 24.
Interventions are designed on the basis of a series of hypothesized changes, such as, increased access to clean water and improved sanitation, improved maternal and child health and nutrition practices, increased use of climate smart agricultural techniques and natural resource management (NRM), improved income diversity, asset maintenance and savings, more alternative livelihood opportunities for youth, increased mobility and voice for women and engagement at national policy level. These interventions are underpinned and informed by gender equality and social accountability, which combined help form the enabling environment for transformative change.
